I'm an old school uo player.
My advice is to use uoloop + ingame macros.
The way I setup for lumberjacking:
Bind: Last Object, Last Target = F7
Set uoloop to F7 : 3000ms
Now you just double click your axle and pick a tree. Start uoloop.
It will chop almost as flawless as you would if u were watching it. To move to a new tree you need to set your target to the next tree. Normally the macro will leave a target on your cursor. You can click the next tree u want, walk over to it (with out stopping uoloop). In a short second it will begin chopping.
The only thing you need to do is notice when the tree is out of wood, and target the next tree, walk near by it. I can watch TV and do this and collect 350 logs w/o a problem at 30.00 lumberjacking.
TIP: Chopping logs in a guarded town will not spawn protectors. You can hit Brit/Minoc/Yew for days. Soon you will want to go out and chop in the real world.
I've never killed a protector yet, but I would think summon spells would kill it w/o probs. You can also dispel them.
